Bobby Ukrop,
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Bobby Ukrop, a second-generation grocer and Chairman and CEO of food manufacturer Ukrop's Homestyle Foods, has lived in Richmond all his life. His love of family, sports, and community-building has led him to join with other Richmonders with passion to establish organizations and take on projects that enhance the quality of life in the region. Without The Diamond and the collaboration that spawned it, regional organizations like Sports Backers and SwimRVA may not have become well-respected forces for good throughout our region.
Phil Stanton was employed by the Richmond Braves from 1986-88 and has worked in athletic communications for Randolph-Macon College, the University of Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a longtime Cincinnati Reds fan and learned at an early age that he would be keeping stats instead of creating them on the field. He is also co-founder and editor of CollegeBaseballInsider.com.
Randy Hallman, fourth-generation newspaperman, was a reporter and editor for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, and prior to that The Richmond News Leader, before his retirement in 2016. His four-decades-plus tenure at the two daily papers included 15 years as a sportswriter. He is a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan. His own baseball career includes a Little League game in which he had three straight hits, including a triple. Then, with the potential trying run at second, he took a third strike for the final out of the game.
