Ellen LeCompte

ABOUT THE AUTHOR​S

Ellen LeCompte graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1975 with a degree in International Economics during which time she studied at Christ’s College, Cambridge. A Commander and the current Chancellor of the US Priory of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, a British royal order of chivalry dating back to the 12th century whose Sovereign Head is Queen Elizabeth II, Ellen is involved in supporting the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group and the social and healthcare needs of U.S. communities. Ellen has for many years been an active member of the English-Speaking Union, an international educational charity founded in 1920 originally between the United States and Great Britain and now global which is dedicated to increasing national and international leadership in education through several exchange programs. Having served on the national ESU board, she is President Emeritus of the Richmond, Virginia branch. As a member of the Richmond Sister City Commission, Ellen has organized several joint initiatives between Scenic Virginia and The Thames Landscape Strategy of Richmond-upon-Thames. Since 2003, Ellen has been named annually to the prestigious of Travel+Leisure magazine’s A- List of top US travel advisors as a UK specialist. Ellen and her husband, Pettus, live in Richmond, Virginia and have two married sons and four granddaughters.
