"You must live for a cause greater that yourself," were the words my father learned as a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy and passed on to my sister and me growing up. I found my cause forty years ago when I brought two adandoned dogs home to the states from the streets of Purto Rico and began my journey in animal welfare. As a past high school English teacher and junior college writing teacher, I think I have written these stories from our sanctuary in a way that will appeal to animal lovers everywere, and would have made my father proud.
